CLAUDE AUCHINLECK SIGNED LETTER - HISTORIC ITEM

A guaranteed original signed letter from one of Britain's most famous commanders Claude Auchinleck .
The letter is dated April 1940 and Is written on United Services club ,Pall Mall.

" Thank you so much for an interesting tour In your area,It was a grand experience and I was really facinated to see such a big machine working , and working so smoothly "
Presumably this refers to a vist to a military formation ( letter Is addressed to a person called ` Barry` ???

At this time Auckinleck had just been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General and was about to become over all commander for the Norwegian Campaign.

Auckinleck would go on to be one of our greatest leaders commanding the Eighth army before going on to be commander of India.

Claude Auchinleck passed away 23rd March 1981.
